Amiga Forever on Mac OS

The preconfigured Amiga ROM, OS and application software files distributed with Amiga Forever (Plus Edition) can directly be used with different Mac OS ports of the UAE Amiga emulation software.

The additional Windows-only software included in Amiga Forever does not run on Mac OS. This includes the Amiga Forever one-click launcher, Software Director and Amiga Explorer. Also, there is no Mac-specific installer included in Amiga Forever (the files have to be copied manually from the Emulation directory of the Amiga Forever distribution to the desired destination folder on the Mac hard disk).

Although older, pre-Mac OS X versions of UAE are known to work with the ROM and operating system files included with Amiga Forever, we recommend the use of one of the following newer ports for Mac OS X:

• E-UAE, ported and maintained by Richard Drummond
• MaxUAE, originally ported by Alexander "ALeX" Kazik

Amiga Forever includes a configuration file which is ready to run with MaxUAE, and UAE (for GNU/Linux) configuration files which should work well with all versions of UAE, including the Mac OS X port.

Extraction of the Plus Edition

The files in the Plus Edition ZIP archive need to be extracted to the hard disk before the CD ISO image included in the archive can be burned to CD. Any ZIP extraction software can be used, as long as it simply copies the files, without modifying them.

If you use certain versions of StuffIt or Expander on the Mac to extract the ZIP archive, it is extremely important that the "Convert text files to Macintosh format" option (if available) be set to Never before extracting the files.
