Installing Software Which Uses Windows Installer

TOPIC

Q: Where can I find the latest Windows Installer (MSI) Engine?

DISCUSSION

A: The Windows Installer (also referred to as MSI, from "Microsoft Installer") technology used by Cloanto applications does in general not require additional downloads on systems running Windows Me, Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Server 2003 or higher, which already include Windows Installer version 1.11 or higher.

If you are running Windows 95, Windows 98 or Windows NT 4.0, and if you never installed any software which used Windows Installer version 1.11 or higher, then you will need to install the latest version, which is available as a free download from Microsoft. If you are in doubt about the version of Windows Installer which may be installed on your system, you can search for a file named "MsiExec.exe" in the system folder and select its properties.

You can use the following links to proceed to Microsoft's Windows Installer 2.0 download pages:

Installing the above also solves any "instmsia.exe not found" or "instmsiw.exe not found" error conditions which you may have received during installation.
